The EOS Journey at DA Systems

In late 2017, DA Systems embarked on a journey to implement the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)

What is EOS?

EOS®, the Entrepreneurial Operating System, is a complete set of business principals and real-world tools that help entrepreneurs get what they want from their business. By mastering this simple way of operating, leadership teams of growth-oriented companies systematically and permanently improve.

It is designed to help our leadership team with the following key points:

  • Vision – getting everyone in the organisation 100% on the same page with where we’re going, and how we plan to get there
  • Traction – instilling focus, discipline, and accountability throughout the company so that everyone executes on that vision – every day
  • Healthy – helping our leaders become a more cohesive, functional, healthy leadership team

Why EOS?

In 2017 our MD David Upton was given a copy of Traction in a strategy session being run by business consultant Rob Grant.

David was so enthusiastic after the book resonated with him so intently that he immediately gave a copy to the management team to read.

The main thing for David is that EOS fosters a culture of transparency and accountability within an organisation and this, combined with a simple to use toolkit can help businesses smash through the glass ceiling – which every business inevitably hits.

What’s different?

We are aiming to finish rolling EOS out across the business by the end of 2018 – a process which will have taken a full 12 months to achieve.

We have a simple 2 page business plan which we are executing against. Everyone in the company knows what they are accountable for and understands the vision we are working towards.

We have a 10 year plan, a 3 year plan and a 1 year plan. Everyone has quarterly ‘rocks’ (which are the blocks of work /goals that they need to achieve to ensure we hit the 1 year plan) and then weekly ‘Level 10’ pulse meetings to keep us on track for those quarterly goals.

How are we doing it?

The choice between self-implementing or using a consultant was easy for us. Having a neutral, objective person outside the business who is completely non-prejudiced by anything apart from trying to keep the process ‘pure’ helps us immensely.

We are working with a certified implementer called Dean Breyley who runs a consultancy called ‘Grow Or Die

What does EOS mean for our customers?

We don’t just sell software. We are on a mission: “To empower every courier, everywhere to realise their full potential.”

We are making changes to the way we do things in order to make sure we are focussed on making this happen today, tomorrow… here in the UK and around the world.
