30/04/09 - DA Systems has launched its advanced warehouse management transport system (WMTS) that uniquely integrates with DA System’s ACI transport management system to combine transport, asset, service and strategic stock management - all in one. WMTS automates the lifecycle for inbound and outbound strategic parts operations, stock checks and moves, as well as processing returned parts.
WMTS is the first system where outbound movement of stock is directly linked to the courier movement by generating the delivery job at the point the stock is reserved.
WMTS uses wireless barcode scanners within the depot or warehouse so staff can pick and pack stock within seconds of it being reserved, eliminating costly mistakes. Stock management functions can be carried out by scanner or via the stock application with serialised barcode labels being automatically generated for stock being checked-in. Stock types are then stored against both client and contract number, further enhancing the management of clients that serve multiple accounts.
WMTS further improves productivity, by tightly integrating transport and stock management, so the number of processes from request, through to delivery, are greatly reduced. This allows a rapid response for customers – leading to increased levels of customer service.
By using the web interface, customers have full visibility of their own stock holding and can request fulfilment of items in one simple process. Via the website, customers can also access a comprehensive suite of reports - including a complete lifecycle of each stock item.
WMTS is rapidly deployed so that strategic spare parts supply and inventory management services can be quickly implemented. The system also provides the means to add extra functionality; such as electronic POD capture and vehicle tracking.
