Logistics contractors key to Armed Forces efficiency
Date: 21/02/2012 11:29:07

Contractors will be an integral part of the Armed Forces' logistics process as it attempts to improve efficiency.
A meeting is being held between March 26th and 28th in London to discuss logistics and how contractors can be used to boost maintenance procedures in the MoD.
Speakers from militaries across the globe, including the Royal Marines, US Army and Finnish Armed Forces will offer advice and insight on procurement, logistics and the benefits of a mobile workforce.
One of the key topics of discussion will be reactionary logistics and how best to operate supply chains in hostile environments.
A key priority for the MoD will be the use of feedback procedures to bolster communication between operational staff and contractors.
Speakers will include air vice marshall Graham Howard and assistant chief of the defence staff (Logistics) from the MoD Colonel Peter Taylor.
As well as operational risk, delegates are likely to discuss the economic risks facing supply chains, which is already a major concern for private supply chain specialists.
