Consumers offered carbon neutral shipping
Date: 15/02/2012 15:44:10

Consumers will soon have the option of selecting carbon neural shipping on their orders for no additional cost.
DPD has announced that as part of a change to its vehicle tracking services it will be allowing its customers to pick carbon neutral delivery services for free from July in a move which is thought to be likely to cost its parent company £4.2 million a year.
Named Total Zero, the programme will see the company offset the emissions produced by the 2.5 million parcels that it transports each year.
Chief executive of DPD Dwain McDonald said: "We created Total Zero because we recognise that the highly carbon-intensive logistics industry needs to reduce its carbon footprint and its impact on the planet."
The move was also welcomed by one of its partners, the online fashion retailer ASOS, which has recently announced it will be teaming up with Allport to transports goods as part of its international supply chain.
